Tigers Fundraiser hits a home run!

Baseball was in the air when over 700 Loyola High School supporters attended the 14th Annual Tigers Fundraiser. The event was held at the Detroit Athletic Club’s outdoor parking lot which is in the shadow of Comerica Park’s center field.

Loyola supporters wearing baseball jerseys and caps enjoyed a ball park supper of hot dogs and beans and then strolled past several tables of sports memorabilia during the Silent Auction. Baseball items in the auction included Tigers ticket packages, tickets to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, an Ernie Harwell panoramic photograph with his autograph, a baseball signed by Magglio Ordonez, a bat signed by Carlos Guillen and much more.

Near game time the Tigers fans strolled a few feet and entered Comerica Park in time for the first pitch. And Tigers ace Justin Verlander did not let them down. He mowed down the Pirates in a 6-2 Tigers win. Loyola supporters helped launch the Tigers on a seven-game winning streak – the team’s longest of the season.

The Tigers weren’t the only winners, though. Generous supporters raised more than $140, 000 for Loyola High School.
