A Spectacular Evening
a Last
Minute Move,
a Great Party and a Tigers Victory!

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow
looks
like thats the new Loyola motto the party goes on,
no matter what!

On Friday, June 13th (maybe that was the problem!), with
our 48 Silent Auction items almost all on display, tables and
chairs set-up, the microphone system primed to go, and 8 dozen
balloons on their way, Ted Gillary, the Executive Manager of the
Detroit Athletic Club, made the call to move the party for Loyolas
12th Annual Tigers Fundraiser inside to the their beautiful second
floor dining rooms.

It was quite a party! Over 800 guests enjoyed a Ballpark Supper,
Dixieland music, and brisk auction bidding, while finding time
to buy a raffle ticket, visit with Loyola students and staff,
and meet the many friends of Loyola, some at the party for the
first time. And, of course, Paws was a big hit with the younger
set, who all wanted to meet him.

Chair Tim Shafer, along with an outstanding Tigers Committee,
worked hard to secure ticket packages, a raffle prize, and auction
items. With strong bids on everything, two Ground Passes for the
2008 PGA Championship, a Time Share at Hilton Head, tickets and
the 1st pitch for a Toledo Mud Hens game, Fly Fishing on the Au
Sable, 5 NFL Pennants circa 1950s, and Fr. Daves "Semi-Gourmet"
Dinner were just a few of the much-in-demand items.

John King, father of Tiger Committee member Jeff King and long-time
supporter of Loyola, won the raffle prize: a Suite Medley
that included suites for a Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, and Lions
game, plus $1,000 in cash for refreshments.
The highlight of our Tigers event was the presentation by Fr.
David Mastrangelo, S.J., Loyolas President, of the Presidents
Award to Mary Jo and Steve Wall for "their generosity and
spirit of service in support of the Annual Loyola High School-Detroit
Tigers Fundraiser". Dear friends of Rev. Malcolm Carron,
S.J., Loyolas first president, Mary Jo and Steve have been
supporters of the school every year since we first opened our
doors in 1993.

Most importantly, the event raised over $172,000 to provide
tuition assistance for the young men of Loyola, thus enabling
the school to honor its commitment to accept every interested
and qualified student, regardless of his familys financial
situation. We are grateful to both the members of the Tigers Committee,
our students and staff members, and all the Loyola friends who
supported this event. Was a great evening
including a Tigers
5 to 0 victory!

Our Sponsors helped make this event
a success!

If you missed this Spectacular Evening, plan on joining the crowd
next year!
